    20 weeks Then and Now

I’m halfway there with baby #2! These past 20 weeks feel like they have flown right by.  One question that most second-time moms get asked a lot is “has this pregnancy been the same or different than the first?”.  I’ve decided to share a comparison of my experiences thus far:   Morning Sickness Last time– I had virtually no morning sickness when I was pregnant with Chase. No nausea, no vomiting, no dizziness etc. This time– I’ve still been lucky enough to have very little morning sickness symptoms, but I do get slightly nauseated almost every other day. Food Cravings/Aversions Last time– Pickles and Ice-cream (separately of course). How cliche, right? And…

    Myrtle Beach Family Vacation

We took our first family vacation down to Myrtle Beach, SC.  We stayed at one of the resorts that could accommodate all 6 of us, including the little cub. Although we only spent 5 full days down there (not including the 7 hour drive to and from the DC area) we packed as many activities in as possible. Here are some of the highlights: Mother’s Day brunch at Chestnut Hill  My dad made reservations at this restaurant for brunch to celebrated Mother’s Day.  It’s widely known in the area for their all-you-can-eat buffet brunch…

    A Playground for Everyone

We are on a family vacation in Myrtle Beach this week and we naturally catered our itinerary to toddler-friendly activities that Chase would find fun as well.  While I plan to post about our entire Myrtle Beach vacation at a later date, I felt compelled to write about today’s amazing playground experience while it was fresh in my mind. Down the road, about a mile from the resort where we are staying is the new community development called The Market Common, a mixed retail and residential town which officially opened in 2008. Within Grand Park Recreation Complex, we found the most impressive I’ve ever seen, Savannah’s Playground. When I googled local playground, I had no…

Mother’s Day Tribute to the Non-Traditional Moms

Motherhood is not something that can be described easily.  Every step, from pregnancy through newborn, toddler, school-age and adolescence is a unique experience for every mom. Each has their own story, their own narrative.  In celebration of Mother’s Day, I’d like to share a less conventional way of becoming a mother: adoption. Most people who know me know that I was adopted as an infant from the Philippines. However, this story is not going to be about my adoption. This is about my mother raising an adopted daughter. Yes, my father has a very equal and integral part in all of this, but since it’s Mother’s Day we’ll just focus on mama for…

    Pesto Turkey Veggie Meatballs

I always feel like I’m running out of ideas for getting Chase to eat more meat. Then I found this recipe by Super Healthy Kids and wanted to give it a try. It was toddler and husband approved 🙂 What you will need: 1 pound – chicken or turkey breast 1/2 medium – bell pepper, red (I used green since it’s what I had) 1 medium – carrot 1 cup – zucchini 3 tablespoon – pesto (pre-made or home made) 1/2 teaspoon – salt 1 tablespoon – olive oil 3 tablespoons of minced garlic What to do: Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
