Just like that, 2 years have gone by since we read our vows, said “I-Do” and ran back down the aisle as newlyweds. I was going through our wedding photos and stopped on this one. We were in the middle of our first dance to John Legend’s “All of Me”. We decided to be unique and had my good friend, Miranda, choreograph the entire thing. It took weeks of practice and we were both pretty nervous to perform this in front of family and friends. The song came on, and Kevin took my hand as we counted out steps in our head and tried to land each move. Then there was a moment when he was to lift me into the air. This never went well during rehearsals, and he usually ended up dropping me on the floor. He must have eaten his wheaties that day, because he brought me up to what felt like 10 ft above the ground. When I came down, he dipped me low, brought me back up. In my mind, it felt like the entire room went quiet and dark, except for the man holding me. I was no longer thinking about 5-6-7-8 or “turn and step”. I was now dancing with my husband. And in that suspended moment, it was as if we were the only two in the room. The camera snapped and that moment was captured. Two years later and he still makes me feel that way.
